An Autumn wedding in the Brecon Beacons

Bride and groom gazing into each other's eyes in a romantic countryside setting, sharing a quiet, intimate moment.

Mike and Jenny’s wedding at Lower House Farm took place in the Brecon Beacons during a typical autumn day, with low cloud and a light mist sitting over the landscape. The setting felt quiet and contained, which suited the pace of the day and worked well for natural, documentary-style photography.

The ceremony was held outside beneath an old oak tree. Fallen leaves covered the ground and the mist hung in the background, keeping everything muted and calm rather than dramatic. Guests gathered in close, and the ceremony felt personal and unshowy. Mike’s reaction as Jenny arrived was understated but genuine, and the outdoor setting kept the focus firmly on what was happening rather than the surroundings.

Afterwards, we stayed close to the ceremony area for portraits, using nearby fields and stone walls. The mist softened the light and kept the colours subdued, which helped the images feel consistent and honest. Mike and Jenny were relaxed and happy to keep things simple, which meant nothing felt staged or overworked.

The reception took place in the barn later in the afternoon. Stepping inside from the cool air outside, the space felt warm and busy very quickly. Once everyone settled in, the room filled with conversation and laughter. The speeches were straightforward, funny and personal, and the barn worked well for capturing the atmosphere without needing much interference.

In the evening, the barn was cleared for a ceilidh. The pace picked up immediately, with plenty of movement, noise and energy on the dance floor. It was informal, chaotic at times, and a good reflection of the people there. These moments were about reacting quickly and letting things unfold rather than directing anything.

Mike and Jenny’s wedding showed how well Lower House Farm works for couples who want something simple and relaxed. An outdoor ceremony, a barn reception and a ceilidh to finish made the day feel practical, personal and true to them. Photographing it in the Brecon Beacons, mist and all, was straightforward and enjoyable.
"We couldn’t be happier with our photos from Lower House Farm. From the start, everything felt easy and relaxed, which was exactly what we wanted. On the day itself, nothing ever felt forced or staged — it was just calmly documented as it happened." - Mike and Jenny
